About the museum and guided tours

Guided tours run from 19th of June til 13th of August 2023. 

We offer daily guided tours, Monday to Friday at noon. To book a guided tour you need to sign up before 11 am on the day of the tour.

Detaljer om sesong 2023 kjem iløpet av våren

The museum is in  Haakongsgate 51-53 in historic Åbøbyen. Historically the building would hous efour families.  Haakonsgate 51-53  was built in 1917 and is one of the first houses that was built in Åbøbyen. Houses like this one could house up to 15 children with parents. 

Today two of the apartments have been renovated to reflect the interior design and lifestyle of the working class in the 1920s and the 1960s.

Please note: This exhibition is in new norwegian only but your guide can provide translations in English. 

The exhibiton showcase what life was like for the workers at the smelting plant, what life was like for a housewife and what it was like to grow up in Åbøbyen in Sauda.
