Moddis stemme er for mange selve lyden av jul, etter at den unge senjaværingen blei håndplukket av kronprins Haakon til å synge Nordnorsk julesalme under Slottets julekonsert i 2011.
Siden den gang har musikken hans blitt allemannseie, og i fjor ga Moddi for første gang ut et eget julealbum!
Selv har Moddi et komplekst forhold til juletiden, på godt og vondt. «Jeg har vanskelig for å finne roen i alt stresset og forventningspresset» forteller han. «Derfor ville jeg lage ei juleplate om de tingene jeg skulle ønske jula handlet om. Om å finne tilbake til hverandre etter et langt og hektisk år. Om å puste ut og høre til der man er.»
Albumet «Denne tida i fjor» er spekket av høydepunkter, med gjestebidrag fra Frida Ånnevik, Arktisk Filharmoni og en nyinnspilling av nettopp «Nordnorsk julesalme».
«Jeg har forsøkt å lage en plate som får fram kontrastene, både de fine og de vanskelige tingene. Jeg tror det er flere enn bare jeg som trenger det».
